To explore seminal factors that enhance HBCU student STEM career self-efficacy, undergraduate perceptions of research activity engagement were assessed using qualitative research methods. Preliminary results suggest that HBCU students strongly believe that an increased understanding of experimental research methods and the scientific method will improve their academic outcomes and confidence to pursue a STEM career.
