Synthesis and Characterization of Chlorodialkyldithiophosphate of Tin(IV) Phthalocyanine Complexes

Undergraduate #195
Discipline: Chemistry and Chemical Sciences
Subcategory: Chemistry (not Biochemistry)

Lester Piri - Alabama A&M University
Co-Author(s): Dr. Adnan Elkhaldy, Alabama A&M University, Normal, AL

A new complexes of chlorodialkyldithiophosphate of tin(IV) Phthalocyanine Cl(L)(OR) (where L = C32H18N8 and R = Et, Pr-n, Pr-I and Bu-i) were prepared by the dropwise addition of the appropriate O,O’-dialkyl acid to tin(IV) Phthalocyanine in 1:1 molar ratio and refluxed in benzene solution. These complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurements and spectroscopic techniques (IR., NMR 1H, 13C and 31P NMR). These chlorotin(IV) Phthalocyaninedithio complexes have also been screened for their antibacterial activities.
