Angela Allen

Assistant Teaching Professor, Director of the Environmental Technology and Management Program & Co-Director of the Environmental Sciences Program, North Carolina State University

Dr. Angela Allen is an Assistant Teaching Professor at North Carolina State University with more than 20 years of experience in higher education, including service at two-year institutions and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). She serves as Director of the Environmental Technology and Management Program and Co-Director of the Environmental Sciences Program. Her work focuses on engaging undergraduate students in interdisciplinary research through partnerships with academic, government, industry, and community stakeholders. Dr. Allen facilitates collaborations across the physical, life, and social sciences to address environmental challenges and expand experiential learning opportunities. She is the founder of the Environmental Resource Water Assessment Training Program (ERWATP), which provides undergraduate research experiences and promotes community-based partnerships focused on monitoring environmental stressors and improving water quality. Her interests include analytical chemistry, water quality assessment, environmental monitoring, community-engaged research, and student success in STEM.

Dr. Allen holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from NCSU, and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Albany State University. And is a mother to one son, John Dixon, III.
