2023 HBCU-UP/CREST PI-PD Meeting
The 2023 HBCU-UP/CREST PI-PD Meeting will be held in Washington, D.C. on February 8-9, 2023.The HBCU-UP/CREST PI-PD Meeting will be hybrid. The plenaries, break-out, and business meeting sessions will be in-person and live-streamed. The PI/Co-PI poster session will be virtual only.
The objective of the HBCU‐UP/CREST PI-PD Meeting is to provide Principal Investigators, Project Directors, and others with an opportunity to: (1) learn about and share STEM research results; (2) learn about and share innovative strategies for recruiting, preparing, and retaining undergraduate students; (3) learn about other grant opportunities at NSF; and (4) make new connections and create collaborations.

Please join us for an informative webinar on Friday, April 14 covering the new Dear Colleague Letter on Expanding Institutional Diversity in Support STEM Research and Education Capacity (23-081) at 12:00 pm (ET). Zoom information is provided below. Please mark your calendars.
This DCL highlights types of proposals that may be submitted to the HBCU-UP program to align with CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 in supporting innovative approaches for building research capacity in order to engage and retain students from a range of institutions and diverse backgrounds in STEM. Funding is available to support the following types of activities:
- develop or expand STEM research and education programs;
- recruit faculty and offer professional development, including opportunities for early-career STEM researchers;
- provide stipends for undergraduate and graduate students participating in STEM research and education;
- improve research capacity via the acquisition of instrumentation;
- conduct an assessment of STEM capacity-building and research infrastructure needs;
- aid in administrative research development; and
- enhance other activities necessary to build STEM research and education capacity.
