Nanotechnology in Cement Replacement
Hildelix L. Soto Toro, University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez
In concrete technology, reducing cement demands lowers carbon dioxide emissions caused by its production. Engineers and researchers have reduced this demand by incorporating mineral additives and special materials to singular concrete mixtures as Fly Ash and nanoparticles to enhance its properties.
Team Nano-Builders: Elizabeth J. De la Cruz Torres and Raul E. Marrero Rosa, University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez
Second Place
Welcome to Carbon World!!
Quentarius Moore, Jackson State University
Welcome to Carbon World!! Where you will discover the amazing facts of an element as simple but as doubling amazing! Take a look at how Carbon Man saves the day!
Team JSU Tigers: Jasmine Burrell, Cord Carter, and Simira Carothers, Jackson State University
Third Place
Stir Casting of Enhanced Aluminum Filler Reinforced with Nanoparticles
Andres Calle, University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez
This study focuses on the manufacture of a filler reinforced with NbB2 nanoparticles for aluminum welding. This research also analyzed weld hardness, weld porosity, and microstructure characteristics via optical microscopy.
Team Elite Nanowelders: Christian Vazquez and Juan Carlos Calle, University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez
Third Place
PolymerWorld
Christian Rivera, University of Puerto Rico
This documentary was mostly filmed on materials and nanotechnology specialized laboratories. The purpose of this project is to present the concept of polymers and some applications in our daily lives.
